I’m TOTALLY PUMPED to share this space with you all. I am JUST JAZZED by the thought of having a butlers pantry. It was honestly one of the top reasons we purchased this house. A ‘butlers pantry” had been on my “must have” list ever since I found out what one was. For those who may be unfamiliar with the term, a butlers pantry is defined as a small service and storage room between a kitchen and a dining room. Basically, they’re just freakin’ cute spaces that allow you to flex your creativity a bit more than a large kitchen does.
To say we have a BOLD design plan for this space is an understatement. The cabinets are a dark teal shade, which the brushed brass fixtures and hardware will POP against. We’re also bringing in the beloved wallpaper from our dining room. We’re doing this for a few reasons. 1. We had 4 rolls leftover (womp womp). Oftentimes, installers will request you purchasing more material than is actually truly needed for the job, which is true in our case. 2. It will nicely tie the dining room, butlers pantry and kitchen together. While we don’t want the adjoining rooms to be too matchy matchy (and they won’t be), we do want a nice flow. The wallpaper from the dining room will be present in the butlers pantry and the countertops in the butlers pantry will be what’s also used in the kitchen. The BP (as we affectionately call it) and kitchen will have different cabinet colors and hardware finishes, so they will still be their own space – but similar themes will trail throughout. Much like the rest of the house (kitchen included), we’re keeping the original hardwood floors.
I can’t wait for this reveal. This mix of crazy color and wild pattern is as good as it gets. There’s no denying that this space is going to be a serious stunner. I can’t wait to host some shindigs (do people still say shindigs) in this bright and cheerful space. This project is wrapping up early next month (EEEK) so follow along as we race to the finish line.
We typically send these fun little nuggets of info out once per month. We love sharing design tips, travel ideas and our favorite local spots!
