This captivating sitting room had fantastic historical features to inspire our design; with stunning views into the back garden, we just had to pull elements of the exterior into this light-filled space. The graceful arches of the windows and interior doors are subtly mimicked by softly curved elements within the room- the fantastically lush wallpaper, burl wood coffee table and arced chandelier just to name a few.
Creating a beautiful space to gather with plenty of opportunities for activities was a priority for this family. With multiple seating areas available, the symmetry of the mirrored sofas offers the possibility of relaxed lounging – while the marble-topped gaming table and caned back chairs presents a place for group fun. Anyone up for a game of chess or a quick 1,000 piece puzzle?
While this parlour has a gorgeous finished aesthetic, it took a number of behind-the-scenes trades professionals to make it happen – all of which were project managed by our team at Michelle Gage Interiors. We so enjoyed creating this simply swoon-worthy sitting room just off the dining area- the perfect space for entertaining or enjoying a beautifully slow morning.

Love the look? We’re sharing some of our favorite design books for inspiration and styling on coffee tables or stacking on bar carts with other vintage treasures. In addition to serving as a source of education and artistry, we love how they can bring a pop of color, texture or dimension in a pinch – as well as spark conversation and curiosity for one’s own home and style.Â
For your convenience, we’ve included links to Amazon but strongly encourage you to support your local booksellers – a few of which we’ve recommended below. Jeff Bezos is doing just fine.
