How To Shop Paris Like A Design Pro

Explore the City of Light with me for a design event called Deco Off, which happens every year. Interior designers from all over the world descend upon Paris to see new launches and immerse themselves in the city’s offerings. It was such an inspiring time to source new pieces for our design clients.

This trip was a mix of work and play. In order to make the most of my journey, I flew in a bit before the design events started and stuck around a little after they ended. When planning my trip, I wanted to ensure that I had enough time to hit the flea markets twice (spoiler alert: I wound up going 3x), which meant I would need to be here for two full weekends.

So now is the time when I share all of my favorite haunts. Y’all are a little tricky to read on this matter. When I throw up polls on the gram, so many of you say you are NOT here for the trip guides – BUT even more of you DM me asking “where’s this?” So, for the honest few who can admit that THEY DO love a trip guide, this one is for you!

Twenty minutes after my flight landed, you could find me at the flea market. I’m a sucker for old shit and Paris has the very best! I dropped my bags and headed to Paul Bert and Saint Ouen – aka The Paris Flea Market. There are hundreds – if not thousands – of vintage booths to shop. Technically the markets open at 10AM but you’d be hard-pressed to find a vendor ready for you that early. The market is an all-day affair. Most vendors take credit cards but there are atms on the grounds if needed. It’s a hike to get there but totally worth the trip.

If you’re unable to make the BIG market – fear not! There are dozens of little brocantes all around the city on the weekends – you are bound to stumble upon one if you take to the city by foot. This is one of the main reasons I love to walk instead of cab when traveling in Europe; there are so many gems to come across that you just might miss by car!

Speaking of shopping, you can’t come to Paris without indulging a little! Here are some of my favorite haunts.

Vintage Clothing – Le Temple du Vintage, Thank God I’m A VIP, Louise Paris, Kiliwatch, Bobby Paris, Clara Vintage, Lapin Boutique Vintage, Skat Vintage, Love & Dress, Bhumi

New Clothing – Jonak, Sezane, Bobbies, Maria de Orden, Minelli, Maison B, Le Bon Marche

Gifting / Housewares – Landline, Merci, Marin Montagut, Alix D Reynis

Beauty – Bienaime, Oh My Cream, Officine Universelle Buly

Now, a girls gotta eat, so if you’re in the mood for some good food, may I suggest…

Food – Taco Mesa, Mamiche, Buckwheat, Dalmata, Pink Mama, Cafe de la Fantaisie, Tigermilk, Broken Biscuit, Copains (for GF pastries)…but truly there are no bad options so just bop around and find what tickles your fancy!

One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to check out museums – both big and small. I’m learning that I tend to favor the smaller, more intimate ones – of which there are plenty in Paris. This time, I visited The Le Galerie Dior, which was darling. Our last Paris guide shares all of my favorite Parisian museums with you.

I hope this guide helps you plan your next trip to Paris. If you’re inspired by all of the vintage pieces we shared and want to hire an interior design firm to find you the good stuff, get in touch! We have partners in Paris that we can source from for our design clients – be it art, lighting or furniture – and arrange to bring everything over.

On this trip, I sourced 15 original paintings for one of our long-term design clients – and cannot wait to reveal them to you all on Instagram. Au revoir!
