Good design is everlasting, but that doesn’t mean your cabinets must be white to transcend decades.
When we design kitchens, we consider how to blend aesthetics with function. Kitchens are the hub of the home; they should be both beautiful and practical. We want our clients to enjoy making meals and memories in the kitchens we design. Today, we are sharing some of our top tips on how we design kitchens that our clients love!
Creating an organized kitchen can help keep the counters clutter-free, storing everything you need for cooking and entertaining in cabinets and drawers. A large island can provide plenty of workspace to prepare meals and a central area to gather with friends and family. Additionally, tons of storage can also be tucked into this space for easy access to those larger kitchen gadgets.
Defining work zones enhances the functionality of the kitchen – whether you’re looking to renovate your kitchen, completely relocate the room (as we did in Peach Perfect) or do a targeted refresh. Allocating a function for each area of the kitchen and then designing and organizing accordingly can make a world of difference in your overall enjoyment of the space.
While you might think of paint colors or appliances as typical statement-makers, the backsplash can create a wow-moment too! Updating or adding tile is a relatively easy way to completely change the feel of your kitchen in the world of renovation. A gorgeous pattern or color that you love can truly add timeless charm to the space.
Go bold with a cabinet color that sparks joy! You’ll notice that not a single kitchen in this post is stark white. We have carefully considered a daring color choice for each and every one of our kitchen designs.
A love of chartreuse brought this shade to the kitchen in our Candy-Colored Condo project. This zesty hue is balanced by teal tones and a subdued center island. Your kitchen needs to be highly functional, but there’s no reason it can’t also be beautiful. As designers, we create masterful mixes of color, pattern and texture, layering in each element for brilliantly refined spaces.
Lighting plays an essential role in the kitchen – it needs to be practical for the function of space but also designed with socializing and everyday life in mind. The right lighting will create layers, adding a welcoming ambiance to the kitchen (particularly in the darker months) in addition to the utilitarian needs of cooking.
The true star of this space is the 48” aubergine range framed by the dusty lilac shaker cabinetry. The purple cabinets in this kitchen have such a luxurious feel, that we knew we had to apply the same feel to the range. To complement, we added unlacquered brass hardware, a seamless quartz backsplash and – a classic marble check flooring. This kitchen is fitting for an inspiring chef or baking fiend!
Our expert eye finds unique ways to add layers of texture and color to every space. Open shelving is the perfect way to display your cookbook collection, favorite vases and artwork. Decorating these shelves with items you love makes them more accessible and makes your space feel a little more special and curated.
