Right as Covid struck, our beloved long-term client reached out with some additional projects for her 19th century seaside home. We were thrilled to work with such a fabulous repeat client again! The scope of this phase included design work in a number of spaces: kitchen, pantry, powder room, dining room, sun porch and bedroom (this last one you may have seen before).
In order to minimize disruption to our client’s home life, we had the kitchen updated on a very tight timeline. Luckily, the existing footprint and inset cabinets were workable – but the cabinet color was a dated butter yellow and in dire need of a refresh. We were also eager to change out the countertops and lighting, but the appliances and beautiful unlacquered brass hardware were good to stay.
With A LOT of upfront planning and strategic design, the kitchen was completed in JUST 3 WEEKS, minimizing inconvenience and disturbance to the client. With these updates and a fresh spruce paint color, we were able to swiftly transform this kitchen into a charming home destination.
The adjacent pantry and powder room were fantastic opportunities to bring a pop of color and imaginative pattern to the first floor’s side spaces. The gorgeous wood countertop was given some TLC – refinished and lacquered to shine and looks brilliant against the new splash of blue on the original pantry cabinetry.
In this scrumptious dining room, we wanted to highlight the amazing antique brass chandelier and accentuate the gorgeous view of the blue bay waters. The room craved wallpaper, so we chose something with a light background and biophilic print. In addition to the furnishings, we sourced a statement mirror from a London-based trade partner.
Let’s talk about the sun porch! The dining room connects to the sun porch, extending the entertaining opportunities. It’s such a lovely place to be – we sourced an incredibly comfortable sofa and lounge chairs to mingle with a unique scallop-edged concrete coffee table.
In this primary bedroom, which we completed in early 2020, we focused on creating a lush moody respite. We started the design with the emerald velvet bed, adding layered rugs, ample seating to enjoy the bay view and nature-inspired art and wallpaper.
Although much of this Saint Michaels project was just recently designed, we created a beautifully cohesive home that considered the space’s longevous history, previous design work and existing phenomenal vintage pieces. Through strategic planning and considered bespoke design, this bay-front home becomes something extremely special.
