Pretty Lively Penthouse Loft by Michelle Gage Interiors

Bedrooms That Fend Off The Winter Blues

Around here, we believe that your bedroom should be FUN! How do you make a space, designated for sleep, a little bit more lively? Well, it all starts with the design concept. We take careful steps in our design process to ensure that you’re getting a room that is uniquely YOU – and our clients are anything but boring!

There are 6 major elements that we consider when designing our eclectic bedrooms.

Printed Textiles

This mainly pertains to the pillows we place on your bed, but can also extend to any special throw blankets. We aim to design a space that is fun, not fussy – sophisticated, not stuffy. Your pillows should add to the room’s appeal – but not steal the show; their purpose is to pair perfectly with what else is already in the space. We curate the most perfectly printed pillow assortment, sourcing from distinctive vendors, such as Boll & Branch, who is recognized for their more clean, dichromatic pillows with decorative accents.

Clever Lighting

Lighting is the jewelry of any room ; it should sparkle throughout the space. In a bedroom, you can either do a sconce over your nightstands or table lamps on top of them. It all depends on the homeowner. When we’re sourcing a table lamp, we want the base to make a statement. Occasionally, we will get the request to hang sconces so that there is a bedside surface for evening items like glasses and books.

Accent Wallpaper

We’re actively against the idea of a painted accent wall. However, if the space warrants, we’re on board with the idea of accent wallpaper. We always select something that is worthy of the space behind your bed, as that is the focal point of the room.

Bold Rugs

Bringing a bold rug into your room is a great way to create an eye-catching moment. Whether it’s bold in color or print, a rug can really bring your room together. In addition to selecting the right style for your space, size is equally important.

Statement Beds

Beds are, without a doubt, the main focal point of any bedroom. Beds are what the whole room is designed around. Once we figure out its placement, that determines where the rest of the pieces will go and what size limitations we might be facing. There are a few options when it comes to selecting the right one for your space. Are you a late night reader? If so, you might want an upholstered velvet or linen headboard. More into having your bed serve as the artwork of the room? Perhaps this custom live edge style is just right for you! Here are some additional headboard ideas.

Timeless Nightstands

We love a classic pair of nightstands. There’s just something about two well-designed case goods flanking each side of a bed. Adding nightstands provides storage, creates symmetry and enhances the aesthetics. We like to look for pieces that have high end details. Our favorite styles are leather-wrapped and/or have brass hardware. They’re classic in their design and are sure to last a lifetime.

Clients come to us for our use of fun wallpaper, custom furniture and luxury textiles. We love designing spaces that make our clients LOVE coming home.
