When we first visited this home, we were greeted by the idyllic arched doorway, which felt straight out of a storybook. As we walked the pathway to the front door, we knew this 1935 English Cottage and young family deserved a fairytale moment. The home’s design blends whimsical fantasy with historical influences that pay homage to the original architecture.
The home’s tranquil and nature-inspired palette starts in the entry. When you enter through the front door, you are greeted by green grasscloth wallpaper that wraps around the foyer, bringing the outdoors in. Throughout the rest of the home, you can find hand-picked playful prints, artisan details, intricate wallpaper and vintage art, which enhance the home’s character and charm.
There are many materials in the living room that harmonize in color and texture. The eye goes right to the stunning window treatments with brass French return rods. Patterned ottomans add additional seating and complement the English roll-arm blue velvet sofa. The forest green leather-wrapped bookcase nods to the nature-inspired theme throughout the home. All of the artwork throughout the home was specially sourced alongside our brilliant friend and neighbor, Andrew of The Little Gallery.
Throughout the room, you’ll see gorgeous wood finishes present in the classic turned castor legs and the traditional spindle detail in the game table and chairs. Just past the game table, a cheerful and imaginative playroom invites you to take a closer look.
Wall-to-wall plaid carpet creates a comfortable floor to play on. We’ve added plenty of toy storage, along with a sweet table and chairs set for play and story time. Imaginations SOAR in here!
To the left of the entry, you’ll find an enchanting botanical mural that adorns the dining room walls. The mural gestures back to the nature-inspired hues referenced throughout the rest of the home. The blush-colored window treatments play with the soothing colors found throughout the wallpaper. The traditional table and sweet blue velvet chairs add a soft touch. The dining room is perfect for hosting and making memories for this young family.
Through the kitchen, a sweet breakfast nook invites you to enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat. The petite round pedestal table fits perfectly nestled into the custom corner banquette. The tiny scalloped chandelier adds a playful touch and nods back to the rattan found throughout the first floor. Fun fact – the banquette seats lift for additional storage!
In the powder room, you’re welcomed by a field of flowers, as if you took a step outside for a breath of fresh air. We kept the existing sink and added a little flair with a striped sink skirt. The artisan scalloped mirror was sourced from the UK and pairs perfectly with the patterned wallpaper.
Wander upstairs to find a cozy primary suite, dressed in playful block-printed bedding and wonderfully whimsical floral drapery. Soft, neutral hues layer with punchy patterned textiles to create the ultimate sleep sanctuary.
The client’s vintage armoire plays into the storybook feel of the home. Since the walls are neutral hue, we added personality to this room with the printed shades, navy nightstands, a patterned rug and a striped chair in the corner for easy Sunday morning living.
